2025–2026 SEASON CASTING EXPERIENCE

You’re not just a skater. You’re a performer on ice.
Creative Ice Theatre develops artists—not just athletes—who are prepared to embody story, movement, and presence through world-class theatrical skating.

2-Day Audition + Workshop ScheduleSession Times: 12:30–1:30 PM and 1:30–2:30 PM
Day 1 — Saturday, August 23

  • Competitive Theatre on Ice Teams (Preliminary, Novice, Junior, Senior)
  • Nutcracker On Ice Production (ensemble and featured roles)
Creative Ice Theatre is home to one of the most respected theatrical skating productions in the U.S., known for professional staging, original choreography, theatrical lighting, and cinematic costuming.
Skaters are encouraged to attend both days. Each session may feature different material and casting evaluations.
STRUCTURE AND LEVELS Skaters are grouped by skating skills level. While technical proficiency is valued, casting emphasizes:
  • Movement quality
  • Artistic expression
  • Theatricality and emotional range
  • Use of elements (spins, jumps, steps, edges) in storytelling
  • Responsiveness to direction and group dynamics

12:30–1:30 PM
For skaters with no Skating Skills test or who have passed up through Pre-Bronze
Focus: foundational performance, musicality, and ensemble awareness
USFS membership not required

1:30–2:20 PM
For skaters working on or passed Bronze Skating Skills or higher
Focus: advanced ensemble work, character depth, movement complexity, and staging
USFS Club Membership required
EACH SESSION INCLUDES:
  • Group warm-up and directed movement
  • Interpretive and expressive skating tasks
  • Application of elements (spins, jumps, transitions) in performance
  • Improvisation and theatrical problem-solving
  • Staging, scene building, and casting evaluation
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
This opportunity is free to attend, but highly selective.
We are not seeking perfection—we are seeking skaters with energy, presence, imagination, and courage.
  • USFS Club Membership required for the 1:30 PM session
  • Skaters must attend the session aligned with their skills level
  • Participation in both audition days is strongly encouraged
WHAT SETS THIS APART
  • Original work directed by professional choreographers and theatrical artists
  • Training in acting, scene work, and character development
  • Two distinct creative tracks:
    • Competitive Theatre on Ice Teams
(Season concludes at the National Theatre on Ice competition in June)
    • 2025 Nutcracker On Ice full-scale production
(Presented on December 12-14 with complete design and technical staging)
  • A company culture where skaters are cast as artists, not placed by test level
